Limits of Specks! This summer has been a great season for catching the Speckled Trout! Seems everyone is going after them, not only the sport of catching them but also for the great taste! Fried up fresh, there is little that can contend with this great eating fish! I remember years ago on the AM radio show 740 KTRH, Bob Stevenson talked about how crowded it was on the water especially on weekends.
He mentioned everyone was after the Speckled Trout and he could hardly find a place to fish! Bob said that he was going to write to the Texas Parks and Wildlife and have the name changed to something that would make people think this was a fish that tasted bad! Bob wanted to rename it to the “Yellow Mouth Spotted Scrunge Fish”.
I remember many stories Bob told on his show but I am sure most of you who read this may remember the statement he would make prior to
going off the air! I can’t remember exactly but it was something like “remember no matter if your fishing, hunting or just playing golf, do it “OUTDOORS”!
I had the privilege of taking Sydney Struss and his wife out for a little Trout Fishing recently and I must say, we did enjoy the “GREAT
OUTDOORS”! They caught plenty of Trout to have a few of those outdoor fish fry’s and what fun it was catching all those Trout. They are eager to do it again and want to go again in September!
Folks, if you are not enjoying the outdoors right now you are missing out. The weather has been great and the fishing has been awesome! What are you waiting for? Go to the surf, or your favorite fishing pier or call your favorite guide, preferrably me, but just get out and enjoy some of the great things that are there for you in the “GREAT OUTDOORS”!
